Job Description

The Box Office Manager oversees all Patron Services operations, including hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising a team of full-time and part-time staff. The role manages payroll, labor budgets, performance evaluations, and ensures compliance with university policies and PCI standards.

They handle revenue processing, cash management, deposits, and serve as the primary technical expert for ticketing and point-of-sale systems. The manager also leads box office operations for most performances, supports event logistics (ticketing, seating, waitlists, surveys), and collaborates with house management staff.

Additionally, the role provides customer service to patrons and subscribers, manages group sales and communications, oversees SFY (Season for Youth) orders and invoices, and maintains accurate financial records. The manager also supports marketing and sales efforts, builds ticketing events and promotions in the system, and assumes broader operational responsibilities when senior leadership is absent.

  • Hire, train, supervise, and schedule all Patron Services Employees
  • Submit time sheets and track labor budget for part-time staff
  • Provide a supporting role to our Season for Youth program (an outreach program with local schools)
  • Complete deposits for ticket sales 
  • Oversee daily and nightly cash handling
  • Lead Patron Services team in all aspects of Customer Service
  • Serve as principal Box Office Manager for 80+% of performances (nights and weekends are included)

Required Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Associate’s degree 

  • Experience:

    • Two years of customer service and cash handling experience

       

  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • MS Office
    • Knowledge of financial practices
    • Ability to motivate staff
    • Ability to de-escalate customer service issues
    • Organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to analyze and interpret reports
    • Ability to learn how to operate application software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: 
    • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in related field
  • Experience: 
    • Previous office management and supervisory experience 
    • Working knowledge of Box Office procedures
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: 
    • Experience with CRM and/or sales software

    • Experience with Ticketmaster Applications

  • Anticipated hiring range: $49,000 - $58,000
